If line is busy, please keep trying
There are
over 70 trees down in the Village with many lying on houses
and property. Highway crews have been working from dawn to
dusk clearing trees that are not entangled in electrical
wires. In addition, many large branches have fallen and are
affecting roads and property. We are making every attempt
possible to clear this condition as quickly as possible.
Curbside
Leaf Collection has been suspended
Sanitation
collections remain on regular schedule
Many areas
of the Village are still without power. LIPA has not
provided any official information to the Village as to their
restoration schedule.
Village
Hall does not have power or telephone service. The Clerks
Office, Village Traffic Court, and the Building Department
remain closed until further notice. The base of
operation has been relocated and staff can be reached at
the numbers above
The New
Hyde Park Fire Department remains in full operation as they
had been throughout the storm.
Western
Water Authority has reported on their Web Site (as of
10/31/2012 12PM) that drinking water is still safe, but do
ask that residents limit their use of water.
Cablevision and FIOS have reported regional outages in and
around the New Hyde Park Area, primarily due to power
outages.
As power
begins to be restored, residents are reminded to AVOID
CONTACT WITH DOWNED WIRES.
Mayor
Petruccio declared a State of Emergency
in the Incorporated Village of
New Hyde Park on October 29, 2012 at 4PM which remains in
effect until further notice.

The Village continues to prosecute offenders
On
January 16, 2008 the Village set a fine and was paid the sum of $14,000 by the owner of a
Single Family home that used the dwelling by more than one family. The
owner was also required to obtain all of the proper permits to remove a second
kitchen. (Illegal Two Family)
On
July 18, 2007 the Village set a fine and was paid the sum of $12,000 by the owner of a
Single Family home that used the dwelling by more than one family. The
owner was also required to obtain all of the proper permits to remove a second

June 20, 2007 the Village set a fine and was paid the sum of $1,250 by the owner of a
Single Family home that used the dwelling by more than one family. The
owner was also required to obtain all of the proper permits to remove a second

Single Family home that used the dwelling by more than one family. The

owner of a Single Family home that used the dwelling by more than one family.

October 19, 2005 the Village won a judgment in Village Court
requiring the owner of an Illegal Two Family home to pay the sum of $2,000. The
owner was also required to obtain all of the proper permits to remove a second
kitchen.
On
July 6, 2005 the Village won a judgment in Village Court
requiring the owner of an Illegal Two Family home to pay the sum of $8,000. The
owner was also required to obtain all of the proper permits to remove a second
kitchen.
On May 18, 2005 the Village won a judgment in Village Court
requiring the owner of an Illegal Two Family home to pay the sum of $20,000.
The owner was also required to obtain all of the proper permits to remove a
second kitchen.
On
November 17, 2004 the Village won a judgment in Village Court
requiring the owner of a legal Two Family home being used as an Illegal Four Family home to pay the sum of
$38,000. This may be one of the largest awards in Village History.
On
November 3, 2004 the Village won a judgment in Village Court
requiring the owner of an Illegal Two Family home to pay the sum of $19,000 plus
$608.40 interest owed when the fine was paid.
On
May 21, 2003 the Village won a judgment in Village Court
requiring the owner of an Illegal Two Family home to pay the sum of $17,500.
On
May 21, 2003 the Village won a judgment in Village Court
requiring the owner of an Illegal Two Family home to pay the sum of $17,500.
On October
15, 2003 the Village won a judgment in Village Court
requiring the owner of an Illegal Two Family home to pay the sum of $17,500.
