Additional Funding Secured for the Reconstruction of Memorial Park

In 2014, the Village was awarded a $50,000 capital grant from NY State Senator Jack Martins for the reconstruction of Memorial Park. Based on initial estimates, this funding, along with $75,000 allocated in the Village budget should have been sufficient for the entire project. However, the bids submitted far exceeded budget estimates by over $150,000. The Village Board was faced with a tough decision to either scale back the project or to allocate more resources to fund the project.

When Senator Martins heard of our predicament, he immediately offered his help and secured for the Village an additional $150,000 so that the entire project can be completed. The Village Board awarded the work to Metro Paving on February 17, 2015 for the cost of $239,000.  Construction is expected to begin in March and work should be completed before Memorial Day.
